Graduate Logistics Officer (Commodity Trading)

Based: Rotterdam, The Netherlands

As a (Junior) Operations Officer you will be responsible for ensuring proper execution of contracts made for international shipments of agricultural commodities under supervision of your team lead and the responsible trader.                                


  • Liaising with various parties to ensure that ships, trains, and/or trucks are properly and efficiently loaded and discharged;
  • Liaising with various parties to ensure each shipment is accompanied by a complete and correct set of documentation;
  • Checking shipment documentation and ensuring that payments are made on time;
  • Assisting in settling disputes with our counterparties around the globe;
  • Maintaining a correct inventory and financial administration for our international trades.


  • Fluency in English and Dutch (spoken and written). Fluency in German and/or French is considered a great asset;
  • Higher professional education (HBO) degree and thought level;
  • Experience and/or education in the field of logistical management;
  • Affinity with bulk transport by ship, train or barge;
  • Number crunching skills;
  • Commercial insight, the drive to minimize costs;
  • The ability to deal with a substantial workload under high time pressure.


  • Possesses good planning, organizational and communicative skills;
  • Has good analytical skills with the ability to prioritise;
  • Works accurately and independently and is a team player at the same time;
  • Shows a pro-active attitude and a natural curiosity;
  • Has efficient and well-organized working skills, as well as a strong ability in using IT applications;
  • Is able to and enjoys working in an international high-pressure environment.
